Vincent Square 2

Vincent Square was built in the 1930's and has, on the whole, survived all that Hitler threw at Biggin Hill during WW2. And now the square is complete again with all the bombed houses now rebuilt. I have always thought that the buildings were unique, a one off, not to be seen anywhere else, but I was wrong. The houses, and also buildings on the RAF camp, follow a standard design that is repeated on many RAF Stations around the UK. I have found a few but are there any more that YOU know of? Let me know.

This photo, taken around 2005, shows the old married quarters at RAF Uxbridge. They are all empty with smashed windows. Structurally they look sound but who knows. At the time of writing this I don't know what the condition of the dwellings is like today.

A couple of images found on Google Earth show other RAF Station Married Quarters. This one is at RAF Northolt. These buildings are still being lived in.

This shows the married quarters at RAF Duxford. Although this shows the back of the houses taken from the main road it's obvious that they are the same buildings as in Vincent Square.

RAF Cranwell has a large collection on both sides of the green shown here.

RAF Leuchars has similat style buidings to Cranwell but still based on the same design.

If you can help me to find more of these buildings, please email me.
