The Green (1)

The unfenced areas of land on both sides of Main Road at the junction with Jail Lane have been known as Biggin Hill Green for several hundred years. The only recognisable feature today is Biggin Hill House on the right of the picture (see also Jail Lane) The cattle trough and drinking fountain, now planted with flowers, which today stands at the edge of the Green, was installed in 1923.

The two children to the right are John Nelson's father Stanley with his sister Christine. The photo was taken in about 1906.
