This is the junction of Sutherland Avenue and Edward Road. In the early photograph you can see how the road conditions in Biggin Hill started to deteriorate. Grass and weeds grow on the rolled chalk surface and ruts being carved out by the wheels of heavy vehicles. This is one of a few roads that have remained unmade to this day. To the left of the photographs is the start of the footpath know as 'Jacob's Ladder' which leads down to The Grove.
