St. Winifred's Road

Somebody's spelling leaves much to be desired as did the surface of this road for many years. In 1923 a coal lorry, stuck in the mud and ruts, overheated and caught fire calling for the attendance of a fire appliance from the RAF Station. This view, looking towards Main Road, is quite recognisable today.
