At the point where Hanbury Drive meets the Main Road near to the RAF station main gate there is, today, a triangular area of grass and it is here that these cottages stood. The guy ropes of a mast to the right of the picture indicate a date of around 1917. Dutch elm disease eventually killed the large tree in the center of the picture and it was felled on 29th October 1976.
