Cherry lodge LANDFILL Action Group
Protest march 8th October 2011
The protest march was organised to highlight what would happen to the high volume of traffic on Main Road if it had to follow a slow moving lorry on its way to the Cherry Lodge re-development haul road. It was open to hikers, dog walkers and horse riders. All were to take a slow walk from the North West entrance to Strawberry field, along Main Road (holding up as much traffic as possible) to the entrance to the field that is proposed to be the entrance to the haul road. It was a great success with a good turn out which attracted a lot of local press coverage. |
The horse riders gather at the start of the march. |
Walkers and dog walkers are also waiting to get going. |

The horse riders take the lead along Main Road. |
Nearly at their destination and a good long queue of cars at the rear. |
Waving to drivers going the other way as they walk passed Baverstock Farm. |
Great view showing the congestion being caused. |
