Buses at the Fox and Hounds

'B' type L.G.C.O. Bus No. 95. The driver and conductor from Old Kent Road Garage pose proudly beside their bus parked at its terminus on the forecourt of the Fox and Hounds. On the side is an announcement of an event which took place on 1st December 1913, so the picture was probably taken soon after that date. The products advertised inside the lower deck include Pink's Jams and Marmalade, Jeyes Fluid, Birds Custard and Phosferine Tonic.

'B' type L.G.O.C. Bus No. 136. Route 95 ran for some six months before the number was changed to 136 on 30th March 1914. Here is a 136 at the terminus, taken in the early summer of 1914, the bus coming from the garage at Catford (code AN on the side) which was requisitioned soon after the outbreak of the First World War. At the right hand edge of the photograph the very back end of a gypsy caravan can be seen with a water container hanging on the tail board.
